“The event of this show is Mutual Compassion for our own humanity. We are all alone together… a mutual understanding. The audience of the play makes a decision to be silent and be a part of the show. Bring the audience as people into the retreat.”
- Dir. David Weber

Design Approach

For Small Mouth Sounds, I created musical elements to fit the mood and tones of the text. The idea of these tones is to accompany moments of movement and emotional vulnerability. Singular tones would subtly play through elements of pain and resolve into a full composition when the end of the show resolves. Also showcased is a track arranged for Alicia’s entrance at the top of the show. Instead of pulling the song listed in the script, I made it a creative project to have a vocalist sing a recording of the track, arranged and played by myself.
